SENIOR HIGHLIGHTS 2024

In the coming weeks leading up to St. Luke's May 18th commencement, we will showcase the remarkable Class of 2024 by celebrating their journey, achievements and the mark they’ve left on St. Luke’s. We’re not only celebrating where they’ve been but also where they’re headed! Let’s cheer on the Class of 2024 as they transition to the next chapter of their lives, reminding them, “Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!”

St. Luke’s loves you!

STEM(M) AT ST. LUKE'S

Featuring: Making Recycled 3D Filament from Water Bottles

As part of our Independent Study program, senior Garrett Dolbear chose to work in the Innovations Lab as an intern this year. His big project idea was to make filament (the plastic thread needed for 3D prints) from recycled bottles. After much research and submitting a detailed proposal, he ordered the necessary materials. In the meantime, he used the 3D printer to make several of the parts he would use. The result is amazing! He is still tweaking the size of the extruder and testing various types of water bottles to determine the best combination of settings and plastic. But it is WORKING!

8 WILDCATS SIGNED TO PLAY AT THE NEXT LEVEL

We're so proud of our 8 senior Wildcats who have already signed to play their sport at the next level! KK Robinson will play basketball at Coastal Alabama, BJ Cooks committed to Calhoun Community College to play basketball, Ella Downing will run for the University of Mobile, Mamie Martensteins signed to play volleyball at LaGrange College, Brody Hale will play baseball at Bishop State, Chloe Yates will play softball at Lurleen B. Wallace, Alex Prieto signed to join the Mississippi College Track & Field Team, and Cammie Waite will join Spring Hill's beach volleyball team!

ST. LUKE'S DRIVE-IN MOVIE THEATER

K5 wrapped up their transportation study in the most spectacular way possible, with a drive-in movie celebration! Our K5 students brought creativity to the road, crafting box cars that were nothing short of masterpieces! From the colorful designs to the imaginative models, the library was transformed into a movie theater. As the screen lit up, so did their little faces with excitement.

At St. Luke’s, learning is a fun ride! Beep! Beep!

ST. LUKE'S STUDENTS VOYAGE ON DISL RESEARCH VESSEL TO EXPLORE MOBILE BAY'S MARINE LIFE

Students went aboard the DISL research vessel where they learned about the Mobile Bay estuary and watershed and trawled for a catch. Students examined the sea life caught, saved a few specimens for the lab, and then fed the birds!

EXPLOSIVE LEARNING: THE DUGGER FAMILY'S PRICELESS AUCTION WIN IGNITES CURIOSITY

Thank you to the Duggar family for supporting St. Luke’s through their Casino Night Priceless Auction win for Explosive Science with Mrs. Thompson! Mrs. Thompson delivered explosive, fizzy, and messy science activities to tap into Jayce and Brantley’s curiosity about how the world works! We hope their memorable learning moment inspires an even deeper lifelong interest in science!
