My husband and I moved to Mobile 15 years ago with our toddler daughter, Ria. We both grew up in India and have no close family in this country. Upon the recommendation of a friend, Ria started preschool at St Luke’s a couple of years later. Our only expectation from the school was that she receive a good education in a warm and loving environment. Boy! Were we underestimating the St. Luke’s community!!! The families at St Luke’s not only welcomed us but embraced our family and culture whole heartedly. We quickly made more friends than I can count, who became like an extended family. These friends watched over us, threw us baby showers, helped us carpool and treated our children like they were their own.
Fast-forward 13-years and we now have four children at St. Luke’s ranging in age from 15 to 7. The St Luke’s family is “our family” and every time our parents and relatives visit from India, a trip to the St. Luke’s campus is a must; for it is the St. Luke’s community that makes Mobile “our home”.
