Mr. Russel’s Mock Trial Class recently got hands-on experience! The case: People of the State of Alabama v. Alex Buckley. Hannah Uptigrove was the prosecution attorney for the state and Justice Scott was the defense attorney. They prepared their arguments based on a prearranged court case (in this specific case it was charges of murder and arson). The other students in the class were witnesses for the trial. The jury for the case was made up of other students outside of the class who were assigned “jury duty” and asked to come in during 4-block for the official trial. Michael Box was the residing judge over the case and passed down the sentence once the jury made their decision at the conclusion of the trial.
