Bridget Chaltain

St. Luke's: How long have you played this sport?
Bridget Chaltain: Since 3rd grade

SL:   Why did you decide to play this sport?
BC:   I tried out every other sport and those were not for me, but whenever I tried basketball I loved it.

SL:   What is your jersey number?
BC:   #20

SL:   What position do you play?
BC:   Guard

SL:   What are three reasons you like being on your team?
BC:   I love the girls and coaches, we all treat each other like sisters, and whenever we need something we are there for each other.

SL:   What is your favorite memory with the team?
BC:   I have a lot of memories, but my favorite would have to be making it to the State Championship with my team two years ago.

SL:   How do you and your teammates make practice fun?
BC:   We listen to music to get us hyped up.

SL:   What are your favorite traditions you have about the team?
BC:   Before each game we have a little dance party with our speaker and disco ball that we have in the locker room.

SL:   Name a coach that has inspired you.
BC:   I love our coaches because of how much work they put into to make sure we have a good season. I also like them because they treat us with respect and also like we are their daughters (even though they get mad at us we still love them.)


SL:   What is the best part about competing?
BC:   I just love to see what plays work on the court and how the team plays together when competing. I also love to see how happy everyone gets when someone makes a shot.

SL:   How does athletics make you a better student or worker?
BC:   Athletics make me a better student because it makes me work more hard to get better grades and also makes me a healthier person overall.

SL:   How has this sport affected you for your future?
BC:   This sport shows me that running up and down a court can keep you conditioned and tells my future self to keep running to stay in shape.

SL:   Where do you plan on going to school next year?
BC:   I haven’t fully yet decided where I want to go, but as of right now I am leaning towards Troy University.

Iamunique Bowie: 9 years

SL:   Why did you decide to play this sport?
IB:   It caught my eye since I was a baby.

IB:   #32

SL:   What position do you play?
IB:   PG/SG

SL:   What are three reasons you like being on your team?
IB:   Team bonding, different personalities, and the sisterhood that we have.

SL:   What is your favorite memory with the team?
IB:   Going to the Final 4.


SL:   How do you and your teammates make practice fun?
IB:   Playing music and we go hard.

SL:   What are your favorite traditions you have about the team?
IB:   Senior night, pregame meal and music.

SL:   Name a coach that has inspired you.
IB:   I couldn't pick just one because they both have been there for the team and pushed us to be our best.

IB:   Having good energy on the court and bench and being able to use the skills I've worked hard for.

SL:   How does athletics make you a better student or worker?
IB:   It has helped with my time management and getting work done early so that I can focus on the sport when it is important.

SL:   How has this sport affected you for your future?
IB:   It has affected me in a good way. I have many schools looking at me for college.

SL:   Where do you plan on going to school next year?
IB:   I haven’t decided.

SL:   Who inspires you as a young athlete and why?
IB:   Kobe Bryant inspired me. His mentality for the sport is making me better as a player, showing me that if I want to be great I have to work harder than anyone else.

Trey Simpson

Trey Simpson: Since first grade

SL:   Why did you decide to play this sport?
TS:   It was my favorite sport out of football, baseball, and basketball.

TS:   #31

SL:   What position do you play?
TS:   Power forward/Center

SL:   What are three reasons you like being on your team?
TS:   I like competing, I get to improve as a player and I get to play the sport that I love.

SL:   How do you and your teammates make practice fun?
TS:   We aim to make each other better by making it competitive.

SL:   Name a coach that has inspired you.
TS:   Coach Trawick because he pushes me to be at my best.


SL:   What is the best part about competing?
TS:   Accomplishing the goal.

SL:   How does athletics make you a better student or worker?
TS:   It teaches discipline.

SL:   How has this sport affected you for your future?
TS:   It has taught me the importance of hard work.

TS:   The University of Alabama.

TS:   Kobe Bryant (rest in peace), he always strived to be the best and he worked hard to do it, and when he became the best he kept working. That's why he's great.

Arbany Holder: 7 years

SL:   Why did you decide to play this sport?
AH:   Because I realized that I didn't like dance.

AH:   #3

AH:   Point Guard

SL:   What are three reasons you like being on your team?
AH:   Because I love basketball, I love being a team player, and I’m a good player.

SL:   What is your favorite memory with the team?
AH:   When we went to State

AH:   I’m a don’t like losing, so I am always playing to win.

AH:   Basketball gives me a reason to keep my grades up.

AH:   It has made a good name for me.

AH:   My mom because she used to play.

Parker Breal

Parker Breal: 12 years

SL:   Why did you decide to play this sport?
PB:   I decided to play this sport because I like the competitive aspect of it.

PB:   #40

SL:   What position do you play?
PB:   Post

SL:   What are three reasons you like being on your team?
PB:   I like being a part of the basketball team because they are my second family, we push each other to do our best, and we are always lifting each other up.

SL:   What is your favorite memory with the team?
PB:   My favorite memory with the team is when we won our final 4 game in 2020 by a buzzer beater which allowed us to compete in the state championship.


SL:   How do you and your teammates make practice fun?
PB:   We make practice more fun by listening to music while we are running drills.

SL:   What are your favorite traditions you have about the team?
PB:   My favorite tradition that we have on the team is our pregame dance parties.

SL:   Name a coach that has inspired you.
PB:   My favorite is Coach Johnny. He is constantly pushing me and helps me through skill development.

PB:   The best part about competing is when we get to show off our season work against good teams.

SL:   How does athletics make you a better student or worker?
PB:   Athletics makes me a better student because it teaches me how to manage my time wisely. It teaches me to find the balance between school work and basketball.

SL:   How has this sport affected you for your future?
PB:   This sport has affected my future because it has helped me become a better leader and team player.

SL:   Where do you plan on going to school next year?
PB:   I am undecided.

SL:   Who inspires you as a young athlete and why?
PB:   Steph Curry inspires me as a young athlete because he is constantly pushing to better his basketball skills.

SL:   What is your favorite motivational quote/saying from a coach or mentor?
PB:   My favorite saying from Coach Trawick is when he says "when fatigue hits" or when he says “bang-a-rang.”
