Football Seniors.
Robert Porter
Senior, Robert Porter is a St. Luke’s long-timer that is adding varsity football player to his resume this year. He has been a Wildcat since preschool.
Robert also plays varsity soccer so he understands the effort that varsity sports require. He states that being a varsity athlete has helped him with his time management skills. Robert also knows the hard work they’ve put in will pay off. As with anything in life, success is always earned and never given!
Even though it is his first year on the football team, he says that football has pushed him to be a better athlete and person. After all, everyone was once a beginner!
To get game ready, Robert listens to his “hype music” playlist pre-game in order to get excited to conquer the field. He dances and sings with his teammates as a way to come together and prepare for the game ahead!
Robert, we are so glad you joined the team this year and hope this is your best year yet! Don’t forget the task ahead of you is never as great as the strength within you! Go get ‘em, Wildcat!
DJ Penn
DJ Penn only recently started playing football for his last year of high school, however, he can tell the difference it has made in his work ethic and time management skills. Since he has only recently started playing DJ says he really has to push himself to his personal best. Coach Lee is someone DJ looks up to the most when it comes to football and he mentions how Coach always pushes the team to try their hardest and perform at their best.
DJ’s favorite part about being on the team is the laughs they all share during practice as well as the traditional senior dinners they do. Before a big game DJ’s go to meal is steak and his favorite hype up song is “Runnin” by 21 Savage. When asked what his favorite part is about competing, DJ says he enjoys learning from someone who is better than him and stepping up to a challenge.
Next fall DJ Penn plans on attending Auburn University to further his education. DJ hopes to carry all the lessons he has learned from the football program into college as well as for the rest of his life!
