The Fundamentals of Biomedical Sciences I students took their learning on the road this week, heading to the Japonica Campus to teach our 4th graders through Fat Finders and Sugar Sleuths! Together, they explored nutrition labels, looked at the fat and sugar found in typical fast-food meals, and discussed simple ways to make healthier choices.
The high school students shared a short slide presentation and their “Rethink Your Drink” poster project, then guided the 4th graders through a hands-on activity using real fast-food meal examples. The best part? Students used their math skills to convert grams of sugar and fat into teaspoons—a powerful visual that made the numbers feel real. Great teaching, great learning, and a wonderful example of older students leading the way!
