When the University Campus was the Julius T. Wright School for Girls, Mr. Gus Hamner, Headmaster, would walk through the halls ringing his bell. This tradition signaled that the year was officially over and students would exit their classrooms and fall in behind him as they paraded to The Quad for ice cream. Mr. Hamner donated that bell to St. Luke’s with the request that the Head of School continue this tradition. In May of 2010, Mr. Palmer Kennedy did just that. And every year since (with the exception of 2020 – because of Covid) we have honored that request.
