Each year the Biomedical Sciences Program conducts a weeklong scenario that involves
severe injury or illness. Over the course of five days the students progress through daily lessons
that begin at the scene of the incident and move through various medical simulations that follow
the patient through treatment. These include EMS and ER, diagnostics and imaging, surgery
and critical care, recovery and rehabilitation, and preventative, safety or investigative measures.
Some of the scenarios in the past have been Distracted Driver: Ruptured Spleen, Slip and Fall
on Ice: Traumatic Brain Injury, and House Fire: Burns. We are fortunate to have many first
responders and medical professionals stage and reenact their roles for our students.
