Welcome to St. Luke's basketball. This year, St. Luke's welcomes two new head coaches to the basketball program.

Boys Basketball Coach

Patrick Niland brings a wealth of experience and passion to his role as the Boys' Basketball Coach. He served as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Spring Hill College from 2020 to 2024. Before this, he was the Director of Jags Impact at the University of South Alabama, where he played a critical role in enhancing the athletic programs and fostering student engagement.

Patrick's journey in basketball coaching began as a Graduate Assistant for the University of Alabama's basketball program from 2018 to 2020. He also served as the Men's Basketball Head Student Manager at the University of South Alabama, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in team management and operations.

Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of South Alabama and a Master's degree in Sports Management and Admissions from the University of Alabama. His academic background and extensive practical experience equip him with a unique perspective and a strategic approach to coaching.

Patrick Niland is dedicated to mentoring young athletes, helping them develop their skills on and off the court. His commitment to excellence and ability to inspire and motivate players make him a valued member of our coaching staff.

Girls Basketball Coach

Charlie Shipp has been a pillar in varsity girls' basketball for over a quarter of a century. With 25 years of dedicated service as the head coach at Davidson High School, Charlie has left a mark on the sport and the athletes he has mentored. His commitment to physical education extends even further, with 27 years of experience.

Charlie's coaching journey is not limited to Davidson High School. He has also brought his expertise to St. Paul's and Grand Bay, where he also fostered a passion for basketball and sportsmanship. A proud alumnus of St. Paul's, Charlie earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Alabama. His pursuit of knowledge didn't stop there; he furthered his education by obtaining a master's degree from the University of Mobile.

Charlie's career is a testament to his unwavering dedication to athletics and education. His legacy is one of inspiration. He has impacted countless students and athletes, guiding them not only in sport but also in life.
