St. Luke's Seniors.

C
ongratulations Seniors! What an exciting year this is going to be for your family. We are thrilled to share this year with you and know it is going to be a special one. Even though graduation is still months away, the preparation work on our end has already begun.

Our goal throughout this year is to provide you with all of the information you will need regarding senior year. Below you will find a list of important dates that relate to baccalaureate and graduation rehearsals and ceremonies, information regarding the graduation seating lottery, and appropriate attire for our seniors at these services. Please note that all rehearsals are mandatory.

What to Expect Senior Year.

Senior year at St. Luke’s is full of traditions. The year begins with the senior tradition of sitting in the front section of the theater for chapel and assemblies and getting the privilege of exiting first at the conclusion of each event. Not only do seniors get reserved front row seats in the theater, but they also get reserved parking places in the South Gate parking lot. Perhaps one of the best traditions would be the granting of senior privileges where those seniors who maintain an average of 75 or above in each class may leave campus during their study hall or lunch time. Seniors also have their own room where they can study, read or visit with friends during study hall. They may also exempt the spring semester exam in a course for which they have an 85 or above average for the 3rd and 4th quarters and have not missed more than five days in each course. Though other traditions exist such as senior luncheons, Senior Commitment Day, their Last Chapel service, the Passing of the Light of Leadership, and Senior Superlatives, the most significant tradition of all is the “Passing Through the Gates”. When the seniors entered high school as freshmen, they passed through the center gates of the school. These gates remain locked until the night of graduation. After the Commencement Ceremony, the seniors process to the inside of the gates, sign out for the final time, and pass through the gates to the outside steps to happily toss their hats in the air as a symbolic gesture that their education is now complete at St. Luke’s.
